Hong Kong is a popular stopover point for UK travellers heading to the Far East. This sprawling harbour city state offers plenty in the way of swanky five star hotels and skyscraper cocktail bars. There's loads to pack into an itinerary, including the Tian Tan Buddha statue, traditional dim sum joints, and dizzying Victoria Peak.

Pair a stop in Hong Kong with a trip to Vietnam, a country that mesmerises with bustling Ho Chi Minh City, its tantalising cuisine (think goi cuon, pho and banh mi), long sandy beaches, and staggering Halong Bay.

2. Historic Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia + stylish Sydney, Australia

Whether it's sampling a Singapore sling cocktail in Raffles Hotel or visiting the Gardens by the Bay, there's plenty to see in this super-slick city. It's then around a two-hour flight to 'The Island of the Gods', where that Balinese massage awaits.

6. Livin' it up in Vegas, USA + chillin' in Cancun, Mexico

If you want to let your hair down after the wedding, the adult's playground we know as Las Vegas should be a serious contender. It's also a really convenient stopover location for visiting the Caribbean side of Mexico.

After all the kooky stage shows, glitzy hotels and hair raising rides, you can enjoy some of the Yucatan Peninsula's manmade and natural wonders - explore Mayan temples, swim in mysterious caves and perhaps even dive with whale sharks. Alternatively, carry on the hijinks in the party capital of Cancun.

Consider pairing West Cali with a trip to Hawaii - the home of 'hula', surfing, and Polynesian culture - which you can reach from LA in around five hours. Enjoy incredible volcanic scenery, stunning beaches, delicious Poke, and a mai tai or two to toast your honeymoon.

10. Street food in Toronto, Canada + culturing in New York, USA

If cities do it for you, consider a twin centre honeymoon to Toronto and New York. The flight to Toronto from the UK is around eight hours and, once you're there, you'll have craft breweries, St Lawrence Market (foodie heaven), and a world class theatre district all on your doorstep. If you do want to explore Ontario's natural wonders, the wildlife-packed Algonquin National Park is a three hour drive away, and you're a stone's throw from Niagara Falls.

The flight from Toronto to New York is around 90 minutes, and you can easily spend a few days here ticking off the most famous sites and museums. Alternatively, go beyond Manhattan to explore the Greek restaurants of Queens or Yankee Stadium in The Bronx.
