Things to do in Gran Canaria in April 2025

If Easter's late, Semana Santa takes place in April in Gran Canaria. Summer starts early on the island, however. At Gran Canaria's first major outdoor festival of the year, 24 Grados (named after the south of the island's average yearly temperature in centigrade), which is held in Maspalomas' main football stadium.

It's Gran Canaria's legendary climate which attracts athletes to the island. They use GC as a warm weather training base in winter. As well as competing in spring events such as Gloria Challenge Mogán with its three triathlons.

Santa María de Guía's famous for its queso de flor - flower cheese which gets its name from the fact it's curdled with juice from the head of the artichoke thistle. So celebrated is this foodstuff it even has its own festival: the Fiesta del Queso, offering plenty of opportunities to bite into this cheesy delight, occurs on the last weekend of April in Guía's historic centre.
