Introducing TUI COVID Cover

TUI now includes COVID Cover* as part of all holiday bookings for:

  • All departures up until 30 Apr 2021
  • Departures between 1 May 2021 & 31 Oct 2021 - booked between 26 Dec 2020 & 28 Feb 2021

This cover protects all travellers from having to pay more to change their travel plans because of COVID-19 and also covers them for all COVID-19 medical expenses during their time away.

You can change your holiday free of charge if you or any one of your party:

  • contracts COVID-19
  • is ordered to isolate just when you are about to travel
  • becomes infected while on holiday

While you are on holiday TUI will cover the costs:

  • of any COVID-19 tests which local authorities require you or any of your party to take
  • of any medical expenses incurred due to COVID-19
  • of additional accommodation during an extended stay caused by COVID-19
  • of any changes to flights home if you or any of your party are delayed due to COVID-19

Note that the policy only covers overseas medical assistance and changes to your schedule related directly to contracting or being suspected of contracting COVID-19.

Before you travel

Booking a TUI holiday now is no different from how it was before the COVID-19 pandemic, and there are many great offers available online. Just make sure you understand fully that there are different procedures in place at the airport and on the plane before you set off.

Top tip: It is recommended that you buy appropriate travel insurance before you travel.

Certain countries require you to fill in and submit a Passenger Locator form before you depart. Make sure you do this for everyone in your party.

Download the TUI app* on your smartphone to get up-to-date information on your holiday destination and use it to check in to your flights so you can download your boarding pass.

At the airport & on the flight

So what's it like to travel with TUI? It's recommended that you give yourself extra time to get through the airport and you minimise hand luggage.

You are required to bring facemasks to wear in the airport and on the flight, even if your destination airport doesn't require them.

Please note that baggage drop is self-service to minimise contact. If you're bringing hand-sanitiser in your hand luggage please remember that there is a limit of 100ml on liquids.

In the holiday resort

All hotels have been checked to make sure they meet the high standards of deep-cleaning set by TUI, and rooms will be deep-cleaned before your arrival.

It should be possible to check in to your hotel online to minimise contact and it's recommended you download the TUI app* on your smartphone to do this. The app also enables you to contact TUI staff during your stay and to access up-to-date information.

There will be social distancing markers and hand sanitising stations located throughout the resort. You might be asked to wear a facemask in certain areas of the hotel. Pools and spas should be open but numbers may be restricted.

You can expect restaurants to be open for longer periods, as social distancing will mean fewer tables will be available.

Live entertainment within the hotels will take place outdoors where possible and most excursions will be available with appropriate social-distancing.

Free amends on new holiday bookings

As an added bonus for its customers, TUI is now offering free amends on all holiday bookings made between 26th December 2020 and 28th February 2021 so long as the holiday is before 31st October 2021. Bookings made before 26th December 2020 can also be changed for free if traveling before 30th April 2021.

Free amends means you can change your dates and your hotel for whatever reason, including simply that you have changed your mind, subject to certain conditions.

To take advantage of this offer you must make the changes no later than 28 days before your original departure date. If you pick a cheaper hotel you'll get the difference in price refunded. If you switch to a more expensive hotel you'll have to pay the difference.

Name changes within your booking are also permitted, but these will carry a charge of £25 per name changed.
